Andrea’s love of learning and passion for education fosters visual literacy among children.
Her role in teaching favors the creative processes. Together, she and the students are willing to take risks, try new things, break convention, think beyond the usual, challenge and stretch themselves for new ideas and ways of representing them, and to value the process of trial and error.
She has worked extensively with children ages 5-9 years old as an art consultant for curriculum development. With literacy as the foundation, she has done many projects in science and social studies, using the visual arts as a tool for learning and communicating that knowledge, making it visible. The ultimate learning goals are to promote creative critical thinking skills using multiple representations.
